How we verify prices
The five checks every number goes through before it is published.
Every number on PricingVerified goes through the same five steps before it is published. This page explains them, and what we do when a vendor makes a price hard to check.
Five steps before any price goes live
Open the live page
The vendor’s own pricing page, as a US visitor, in US dollars. Never another review site when the vendor shows the price.
Capture it
A dated screenshot of the plans, with yearly and monthly billing where shown.
Read the fine print
Limits, fees and add-ons from the plan table, FAQ and help docs.
Compare with history
Against our last record and, where useful, dated archive captures.
Log and explain
Any change gets a dated entry and a plain “what it means for you”.
When a vendor hides the price
Some pricing pages only show prices after scripts run, behind a slider, or not at all. When that happens:
- We say so in the guide, right under the table.
- We use a dated third-party source (a price tracker or a recent review) and name it.
- If sources disagree, we print no number and tell you to check the vendor’s page.
What “Verified” means on a guide
The date next to “Prices verified” is the last day we opened the vendor’s pricing page and confirmed the numbers in that guide. We re-check live prices on a weekly cycle. When a price moves, we update the guide and add the change to the price log.
What we never do
We always
- Show the date of every price check
- Show the screenshot behind it
- Say plainly who a tool is not for
- Correct errors in public, within 24 hours of a report
We never
- Print a price we have not checked
- Claim a hands-on test that did not happen
- Publish fake reviews or testimonials
- Sell a better verdict to any vendor
Prices, regions and taxes
We show US prices in US dollars, before tax, unless a guide says otherwise. Many vendors charge different prices by country, and some add VAT or GST at checkout. Always confirm the final price on the vendor’s checkout page.
Corrections
If you see a number that no longer matches the vendor’s page, please tell us. We re-check within 24 hours. Fixed errors are noted in that tool’s change log, so the correction is visible.
